President Donald Trump has announced a shake-up in his administration, replacing his Chief of Staff, Susie Wiles, with Stephen Miller.

Mr Trump announced in a social media post on Friday that Mr Miller, the current Deputy Chief of Staff, would replace Ms Wiles.

“I am pleased to announce that Mr. Stephen Miller, the current Deputy Chief of Staff of the Trump Administration, and one of my most trusted advisors, will become the Chief of Staff starting Monday, November 9, 2026,” Mr Trump said.

Mr Trump reassigned Ms Wiles to his political operations unit, thanking her for doing a good job during her tenure.

“Susie Wiles, who has done an outstanding job, will be moving over to the Trump Political Operation. I want to thank her for her service as Chief of Staff — She has done a great job!,” Mr Trump said.

Mr Miller, a domestic policy adviser, has been a key figure in the Trump-led administration’s immigration crackdown.

The shake-up comes after Democrats pulled off a surprise victory in the U.S. midterm elections, winning more seats in the Senate and House of Representatives and taking control of Congress for the remaining two years of Mr Trump’s presidency.

Democrats now have 54 seats in the Senate, while Republican seats have dropped to 44. In the House of Representatives, Democrats won 237 seats, while Republicans trailed with 139 seats.
