AFCON 2027 Qualifier: Chelle releases 24-man Super Eagles list for double-header against Tanzania
Coach Eric Chelle has released a 24-man squad for Nigeria’s two 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Tanzania, ahead of the tournament, which will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
The team list was posted on the Super Eagles’ X handle on Saturday, with injured Galatasaray of Turkey forward Victor Osimhen and Udinese of Italy goalkeeper Maduka Okoye excluded.
Kelechi Iheanacho of Buraspor, who is the leading scorer in the Turkish second division with 17 goals, was also not included.
Nigeria will host the Taifa Stars at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on November 13 before travelling to Zanzibar’s Amman Stadium on November 17 for the return fixture.
The Super Eagles, currently placed second in Group L, are hoping to secure maximum points from both ties to improve their chances of qualifying for the tournament.
