Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe has asked communities in the state to support the Nigerian army through intelligence gathering to enhance security.

Mr Yahaya made the call in Gombe on Tuesday when the GOC 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Ibrahim Ali, paid him a courtesy call.

“We need to urge our people, especially those in leadership, to see that whatever will cause commotion and disrupt peaceful coexistence needs to get to relevant authorities.

“I want to assure you that my administration and the people are working to see that the army succeeds in securing the state,” the governor said.

He said the state would assist in the relocation of the army personnel in the state to their new barrack, adding that the relocation would help officers to be more effective.

On his part, Mr Ali commended the state government for supporting the 301 Artillery Regiment in Gombe, noting that the army was appreciative of the support.

Mr Ali, who is also the Commander of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), said he was in Gombe for the inauguration of the 3 Division Operations Planning Cadre, 301 Artillery Regiment.
