Disney+ surpasses Netflix by three times more profits in 2021

Disney+ low pricing in various locations is said to may have played a significant role in its high patronage.

• November 2, 2021

Video streaming platform Disney+ outshines Netflix, recording over three times more profit despite Netflix’s domination on various download platforms worldwide.

Finbold reported Disney+ as the highest-grossing streaming video entertainment application with over $316 million while Netflix was grossing at $89 million.

Overall, Disney+ ranks first and Tencent video second with about $240 million, followed by iQIYI at $186 million, HBO Max fourth with $156 million, then Youku at number five with about $111 million and the most popular platform of them all, Netflix, at sixth.

According to reports, launched on November 12, 2019, Disney+ strategic low pricing in various locations may have played a significant role in its high patronage.

Asides from its stagnant price, Netflix recently removed its 30-day free trial rule, however, Netflix still remains the most downloaded video-streaming platform worldwide.

Alongside other applications like Amazon Prime Video app with HBO Max, Pluto TV, Holstar, ZEE5, WeTV, iQIYI, and Tubi, Disney+ has millions of downloads but Netflix, despite its poor performance, still ranks most downloaded video-streaming platform worldwide.

“The profits and downloads metrics from the two platforms indicate that the market is far from saturated, and consumers are willing to pay.

“This allows platforms like Disney and Netflix to provide valuable content to grow.

“Additionally, Disney Plus appears to have the upper hand considering the services are not available globally,” the report highlights.
