Ondo Deputy Speaker impeached

The Deputy Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Iroju Ogundeji, has been impeached, Punch reports.
Mr. Ogundeji was removed during the plenary held today by the members of the Assembly for alleged gross misconduct and abuse of office.
The lawmakers immediately elected Samuel Aderoboye from Odigbo Constituency 2 as the new Deputy Speaker.
Mr. Ogundeji had been removed from office before. At that time, he was suspended indefinitely by the House for unruly behaviour but was later reinstated by a Federal High Court in Akure.
The latest removal of Mr. Ogundeji follows the attempt by some lawmakers to impeach the deputy governor of the state, Mr Agboola Ajayi.
Mr. Ogundeji was among the nine lawmakers who did not sign the impeachment notice against the embattled deputy governor.
People’s Gazette had reported earlier, that the Ondo State House of Assembly turned four of its members away, preventing them from resuming their legislative duties in spite of court rulings.
