Why 110 Nigerian farmers were killed by Boko Haram: Amaechi

Transportation minister Rotimi Amaechi has attributed the recent killing of 110 farmers in Borno and general insecurity in the country to hunger and poverty.
Mr. Amaechi also said that restructuring is not the most critical problem in Nigeria but hunger and poverty which triggered insecurity in the country.
“I don’t see anything bad with restructuring. But I am saying that It is not the most critical problem that we have, Amaechi told Channels TV on Sunday. The most critical problem we have is that hunger and poverty are breeding insecurity.”
Mr. Amaechi’s statement came as Nigerians criticised President Muhammadu Buhari for failing to tackle insecurity in the country.
Over the weekend, jihadists struck in Borno, leaving at least 110 farmers killed near Zabarmari, about 20 kilometres from Maiduguri, United Nations said.
On Sunday, at least seven people were killed and several children feared missing following an attack on a community in Southern Kaduna.
