What my appointment by Joe Biden means: Wally Adeyemo
Wally Adeyemo, a Nigerian-American attorney, has commented on his appointment by U.S. President-elect Joe Biden.
Mr. Adeyemo was announced on Monday as the next deputy treasury secretary of the world’s largest economy. He has been a long time political operative in the Democratic Party.
On Tuesday night, Mr. Adyemo provide a succinct overview of his appointment in a post on his Twitter handle.
“Public service is about offering hope through the dark times and making sure that our economy works not just for the wealthy, but for the hard-working people who make it run,” Mr. Adeyemo said. “As Deputy Treasury Secretary, I look forward to helping us build back our economy better.”
Mr. Adeyemo’s appointment has been widely praised by Nigerians at home and in the diaspora, although many said his success might have been far more complicated had he remained in Nigeria all his life.
