NUC approves 8 new programmers for Katsina’s Al-Qalam university

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved eight new undergraduate and postgraduate programmes for the Al-Qalam University in Katsina.
This is contained in a statement issued to journalists on Thursday in Katsina by the head of the varsity’s Public Affairs Unit, Akilu Abubakar.
“The programmes are BSc. (Ed) Accounting, BSc (Ed) Computer Science, BSc (Ed) Economics and also BSc (Ed) Home Economics.
“Others include; MA (Ed/PhD) Arabic Education; MA (Ed/PhD.) English Education; MA (Ed/PhD.) Hausa and MA (Ed/PhD) Islamic Studies Education,” the statement said.
According to the statement, the approved programmes, comprising four undergraduate and four postgraduate programmes, will commence in the 2021/2022 academic session.
“NUC’s approval was based on the resource verification visit carried out by different panels of experts sent to the university in Aug, 2021.
“A letter conveying the approval of the NUC Executive Secretary, Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, was received on Nov. 25, 2021, signed on his behalf by the Director, Academic Planning, Dr. N. B. Saliu.
“All the eight programmes are full-time and would be run in the main campus of the university,” the statement said.
