Emir of Zazzau is dead

Shehu Idris, the 18th Emir of Zazzau, has died. He was 84.
Mr. Idris, who was also led the Kaduna State Council of Chiefs until his death, passed on Sunday morning at a military hospital in Kaduna, according to a senior Zazzau Emirate official Ibrahim Muhammad.
Mr. Idris was coronated the Emir of Zazzau on February 15, 1975, ruling the foremost emirate for 45 years.
A career schoolteacher and private sectary to several traditional figures, Mr Idris was 36 when he attained the throne and went on to play a prominent role in the development of Zazzau and other emirates in Kaduna State.
