President Muhammadu Buhari says he is sad that frustrated bandits in the North are killing “soft-targets,” as he condemned renewed bandits’ attacks in Kaduna.

According to him, the gruesome nature of Saturday’s killings in Kauran Fawa, Marke, and Ruhiya villages in the Idasu ward of the Giwa local government area has made him “particularly” sad.

Mr Buhari affirmed that security forces had turned the heat on terrorists “who are getting frustrated and are soft-targeting innocent citizens, looting their assets, burning their homes and killing them indiscriminately.”

He reiterated his directive to security and intelligence chiefs to do everything they could to destroy the remaining vestiges of the terrorists.

Mr Buhari said the killings were unacceptable.

This was disclosed in a statement on Sunday by his media aide Garba Shehu.

Bandits also killed several people in Zangon Kataf, Chikun, Birnin Gwari, Igabi, and Kauru local government areas last week.

Mr Buhari also expressed the nation’s condolences to the Kaduna people, the people of Zonkwa chiefdom, and the family of Nuhu Bature, the Agwam Kajju, on his demise.

He prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased.
