Sunday-Tuesday: Dust haze, poor visibility expected around Nigeria

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted three days of hazy weather activity from Sunday to Tuesday.

NiMet’s weather outlook released on Saturday in Abuja predicted moderate dust haze over the northern region on Sunday.

It anticipated horizontal visibility values from 2,000m to 5,000m and localised horizontal visibility value of less than or equal to 1,000m throughout the forecast period.

The agency envisaged a sunny and hazy atmosphere over the North-Central cities throughout the forecast period.

According to NiMet, a hazy atmosphere with patches of cloud is expected over the inland cities of the South within the forecast period.

It forecast coastal cities of the South to expect early morning mist or fog and hazy atmosphere with a few clouds to be expected during the afternoon and evening period.

“For Monday, thick dust haze is expected over the northern cities with visibility of less

than or equal to 1,000m.

“Moderate dust haze with visibility values from 2,000m to 5,000m is anticipated over the North-Central region throughout the forecast period.

“The inland cities of the South should experience a sunny and hazy atmosphere throughout the forecast period,” it said.

The agency predicted coastal

cities of the South to be under a hazy atmosphere with patches of cloud throughout the forecast period.

According to it, thick dust haze is expected over the northern cities on Tuesday with visibility of less than or equal to 1,000m.

The agency envisaged thick to moderate dust haze with visibility values from 1,000m to 3,000m over the North-Central region throughout the forecast period.

“The inland cities and the coastal cities of the South should experience sunny and hazy atmosphere throughout the forecast period,” it said.
