Lagos: Police arraign four jobless men for robbery

On Tuesday, the Ikeja Magistrates’ Court ordered that four unemployed men be remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre for robbery.
The men, Ishola Rilwan, 27; Isiaka Sheriff, 23; Yusuf Ifekoya, 22 and Edward Chima, 25, were charged with conspiracy and robbery.
The magistrate L.A. Owolabi, who did not take the suspects’ plea, ordered that they should be remanded in prison custody pending legal advice from the Lagos State Department of Public Prosecution (DPP).
The magistrate adjourned the case until February 15 for mention.
The prosecutor, Innocent Odugbo, alleged the suspects armed themselves with cutlasses and robbed Amadu Hayatu of valuables worth N326,000.
Mr Odugbo told the court that the suspects committed the offence with others, still at large, around 2:00 a.m. on December 14, at Odofin Street, Ajegunle, Lagos.
He said the offence contravened sections 297(1)(2)(a)(b), 299 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State.
