Ganduje to train 5,000 Kano teachers in Saudi Arabia

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje’s government has approved an MoU between Kano and Medina Academy in Saudi Arabia to train 5,000 teachers at Madina.
“The state government will be responsible for providing return air tickets, visas, training allowance to the first batch of 50 teachers that will attend the intensive training in Madina before Ramadan,” the Kano government disclosed.
The government also approved the release of N94.9 million to facilitate the settlement of rent stores and garage in Saudi Arabia for 2020 and 2021.
Meanwhile, Mr Ganduje’s government also approved N500 million as counterpart fund for a six-year World Bank-assisted project, ‘Agro Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL)’.
The information commissioner, Muhammad Garba, announced this during a news briefing on the State Executive Council’s meeting outcome.
He explained that the project aimed to increase the adoption of climate resilience landscape management practices and enhance livelihood in targeted arid and semi-arid watersheds in Northern Nigeria.
The project will consolidate the achievements recorded under the Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP) in Kano.
The commissioner further revealed that the council approved a contract to complete the dualisation of a five-kilometre road in the Tofa local government area.
Another approval was for the release of funds for training of healthcare personnel and refund on stamp duty and educational support fund.
He added that the council approved internet service renewal and annual maintenance of ICT equipment and deployment of Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) software at Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital.
The rest were consultant engagement to supervise the proposed Kano state Fibre Optics Network Project and procurement of operational firefighting vehicles.
