Ekiti Governorship: PDP nullifies Ekiti congresses

The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party has nullified its January 15 three-man ad hoc ward delegate congresses in Ekiti.
The party disclosed this in a statement, jointly signed by its national chairman Iyorchia Ayu, and national secretary Samuel Anyanwu, on resolutions reached at the NWC emergency meeting held over Ekiti election matters in Abuja on Monday.
The NWC recalled that at its 542n meeting held on December 15, 2021, a special committee was set up to look into the issues arising from Ekiti PDP congresses and, subsequently, the three-man ad hoc ward delegate congresses held on January 15.
According to the party leaders, the members comprised members of the board of trustees, the governors’ forum, the leadership of the National Assembly, and members of the NWC.
It noted that the decision was reached after considering the petitions and complaints received from party stakeholders on the conduct of the state congresses.
The NWC, in an emergency meeting on January 24, concluded that “parties and stakeholders have agreed to abide by the decision of the party in all matters relating to all issues concerning the position of the party in Ekiti.”
It added that “the three-man ad hoc ward delegate congresses in Ekiti state held on January 15 is hereby nullified” and that the party’s governorship primary election will be conducted using the “statutory/automatic delegates list.”
The PDP NWC also insisted that “all pending court cases in all matters relating to the congresses in Ekiti state must be withdrawn forthwith.”
It added that any person “defiant to the decision to withdraw all pending court cases which contradicts the provisions of the party’s constitution, shall be referred to the disciplinary committee of the party.”
The party assured all aspirants, stakeholders and party faithful of a free, fair, transparent and credible governorship primary in Ekiti.
