Bauchi firefighters beg Gov. Mohammed for trucks, other equipment

The Bauchi State Fire Service has decried the unavailability of fire fighting vehicles and equipment, begging Governor Bala Mohammed for assistance.
Its director, Bala Garba, made the call in an interview on Wednesday in Bauchi.
“We do not have the capacity to attend to many fire outbreaks at a time. There is no backup truck, and when exhausted, we normally go back to refill it. We appeal to the state government to come to our aid and provide equipment to enable our men to do their work effectively,” Mr Garba said.
He said the call was imperative to fast track rapid response to fire outbreaks to save lives and property.
According to him, procurement of fire fighting vehicles and equipping the fire service will make the people understand that government prioritises their well-being.
He added that the government had initiated plans to establish substations in strategic areas, especially in some village markets.
Mr Garba explained that incessant fire outbreaks necessitated the establishment of the substations, stressing that it was good for the government to expedite action on the proposed projects.
