AFCON: Egypt avenge 2017 loss by beating Cameroon to qualify for final

Pharaohs of Egypt on Thursday night beat host country Cameroon via penalty shootout to qualify for the final of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).Â
Both side last met in the final of the 2017 edition of the continental showpiece, with Cameroon edging that game courtesy of an 89th minute Vincent Aboubakar goal.
He is presently the top scorer in the ongoing edition but failed to find the net when they needed it most.
The highly competitive semi-final game saw both team play 120 minutes without goals.
However, Egypt eventually booked their place in the final beating host country Cameroon 3-1 in penalty shootout at Paul Biya Stadium, Olembe.Â
Egypt has qualified for a second final in the last three editions of the biggest tournament in Africa, and will on Sunday play their 10th AFCON final.
The Pharaohs will face Senegal in the final, while Cameroon will slug it out with Burkina Faso for a consolation third place medal.Â
Sunday final will see Liverpool stars Sadio Mane and Mo Salah fight for the title as they represent their respective countries.
