Lewandoski beats Messi, Ronaldo to clinch FIFA award

Bayern Munich striker, Robert Lewandoski, has emerged FIFA footballer of the year, defeating Barcelona Star, Lionel Messi and Juventus striker, Cristiano Ronaldo.

The trio, Lewandoski, Messi, and Ronaldo were finalists in the 2020 Best FIFA Men’s player award which held virtually due to coronavirus pandemic disruption at World XI in Zurich Thursday night.

Lewandoski, 32, led the German side attack, winning both the Bundeliga and UEFA Champion League last season.

“I will repeat what I said a while ago. Never stop dreaming,” the Polish super star said in a tweet on Thursday. “Thank you so much for this award, it’s an incredible honour to receive this tonight.”

In other award categories, Bayern Munich captain, Manuel Neuer, won The Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper, while Liverpool Coach Jurgen Klopp won The Best FIFA Men’s Coach.
