Man in court for drugging, raping 18- year-old girl

A 49-year-old man, Dimeji Sanusi, on Tuesday appeared before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for allegedly raping an 18-year-old girl.
Mr Sanusi, of no fixed address, is facing a two-count charge of rape and unlawfully sedating a lady.
The prosecutor, Akpan Nko, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on January 28, at Seda Close, Ajara Agamathen, Badagry, Lagos.
The prosecutor alleged that the defendant unlawfully had canal knowledge of the girl without her consent.
“The defendant unlawfully gave the girl a liquid substance suspected to have been extracted from herb to drink after which he raped her,” he said.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened sections 280 and 129 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Patrick Adekomiya, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until February 23 for hearing.
