Absence of judge stalls hearing of Abba Kyari extradition case

A suit before the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court, seeking to quash the arrest and extradition of disgraced police chief Abba Kyari, could not continue on Thursday as the presiding judge was absent.
Court registrar announced to parties that presiding judge Donatus Okorowo would not sit today.
A group under the aegis of Northern Peace Foundation had approached the court to stop the police and the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) from arresting and extraditing DCP Kyari.
Mr Kyari is wanted by the FBI over links with the arrest of internet fraudster Hushpuppi who has been indicted for multimillion-dollar fraud.
The matter, which was also not heard on January 12, due to the absence of counsel to the plaintiff and the respondents in the suit, was again adjourned till April 4.
The foundation filed the suit on August 9, 2021, and is praying the court to grant a temporary order of injunction against the police and the AGF pending the hearing and final determination of the substantive suit.
