Several school students were on Saturday kidnapped by armed attackers in Katsina, reports said late Saturday, two days after hundreds of children abducted from a school in the state were freed.

It was unclear how many students were abducted in the raid that came barely two days after 344 students who were seized from a high school were released by suspected Boko Haram elements.

Multiple social media accounts of the incident said two of the students reportedly escaped and were immediately reunited with their families by local security groups.

Katsina Post reported the students as belonging to Islamiyya schools in Mahuta, Dandume Local Government Area. They reportedly attended an Islamic procession in the nearby village of Unguwar Al-Kasim.

A spokesman for the police in Katsina did not immediately return a request seeking comments.
