Businessman jailed for receiving stolen sim card

An Upper Area Court sitting in Kasuwan Nama, Jos, on Tuesday, sentenced 25-year-old businessman, Paul Yilkom, to five months imprisonment for receiving a stolen sim card
The judge, Irene Pati, sentenced Mr Yilkom after he pleaded guilty to receiving the stolen item. Mrs Pati, however, gave the convict an option to pay a fine of N30,000.
Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported at the ‘C’ Division police station in Jos on December 6, 2021, by Suleiman Murtaka, the complainant.
The prosecutor said that a defendant, Suleiman Umar, stole the complainant’s phone worth N210,000 along with the sim card and gave the sim card to the convict.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened sections 59 and 302 of the Plateau State Penal Code Law
