The State Security Service (SSS) on Wednesday, complied with the order of the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court, on blocking the court’s premises and environs ahead of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu’s trial.

Trial judge Binta Nyako, who fixed today’s sitting at 1:00 p.m., had ordered the SSS officers to inform their office about the blockade.

Although Mrs Nyako did not specifically make an order, directing the SSS to stop the siege, she said this would allow the business of the court not to be grounded.

A check at the court early in the morning showed that FHC staff, lawyers, litigants, journalists, among others, had free access into the high-rise and its surroundings.

As of the time of filing this report, there was free movement of people and vehicles within and outside the court
The judge had on January 19, told the SSS not to take over the security arrangement of the court today until 12:00 p.m.

Mrs Nyako had complained that other cases were affected during Mr Kanu’s trial due to heavy security presence and blockade of roads leading to the court.

She then moved the trial to 1:00 p.m. to ensure that other cases are accommodated.
