Accord Party picks 39-year-old as acting chairman

The executive council of the Accord Party in Lagos has appointed its 39-year-old publicity secretary, Dele Oladeji, as its acting chairman.
The acting publicity secretary, Rasheed Ashogbon, announced this in a statement on Thursday.
He said the council took the decision at its extraordinary state executive council meeting, held at the party’s secretariat in Alimosho on Wednesday.
Mr Ashogbon added that the council considered the step imperative following the earlier suspension of the party’s chairman, Joseph Beckley, three weeks ago.
According to him, the state executive asked Mr Oladeji to assume the role of the acting chairman of the party.
The acting chairman pledged to put in his best to reposition the party to winning ways.
“I will deploy the best brains and hands in the party towards building a bigger and more vibrant party that would work to unseat the ruling party in the state,” Mr Oladeji said.
The Accord Party’s acting chairman, an IT consultant, was the party’s House of Representatives candidate for the Ojo Federal Constituency in the 2019 general elections.
