The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has removed the requirement for compulsory COVID-19 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test for Nigerians and other travellers who are fully vaccinated.

With fully vaccinated travellers just needing to provide a vaccine certificate with a valid QR code, the removal came into effect last Saturday according to a statement by the National Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA)

Those who have not been vaccinated must present a negative PCR test within 48 hours of departure or a recovery certificate with a QR code demonstrating coronavirus recovery within a month of travel.

“Those coming to the UAE have to make sure to present an approved QR code- accompanied Covid-19 vaccination certificate containing a QR code; unvaccinated travellers have to present an approved negative PCR test result received within 48 hours, or a QR code-accompanied certificate of recovery from a Covid-19 infection obtained within one month from the date of travel. Travellers from the UAE have to follow the requirements of medical examinations and vaccinations in place in their countries of destination,” the statement read.

The UAE has also restored sporting activities while ending physical distancing requirements in tourism and economic sectors from the same date.
