Ekiti: Local government begins enforcement of masks

The Oye Local Government Area of Ekiti will commence the enforcement of mandatory use of nose masks among residents as a measure to fight COVID-19.
Council chairman Foluso Ojo told NAN in Oye-Ekiti that it was important that residents use nose masks while in public.
He said that the council had instructed all its heads of units and departments to monitor compliance.
Mr. Ojo added that the council had directed heads of community health centres to sensitise residents about safety measures to curb COVID-19 spread.
“I have informed all heads of departments and units in the local government to start enforcing the use of nose masks and ensure compliance.
“Beginning from Dec. 25, security agencies will be monitoring compliance.
“Our health centres have been equipped and renovated to cater for the sick during the festive period and ensure that every patient abides by all COVID-19 protocols,’’ he said.
The chairman appealed to Ekiti indigenes to stay safe and maintain proper hygiene.
Oye-Ekiti, a university town is expected to witness sizable in-flow of indigenes who would return from their bases abroad to celebrate Yuletide.
