NNL: Giant Brillars beat visiting Stormers SC 1-0

Giant Brillars of Enugu on Saturday defeated visiting Stormers Sporting Club of Abeokuta 1-0 in a Nigeria National League (NNL) match played in Enugu.
Agu Offe scored the only goal of the match in the 56th minute to ensure that the home team claimed all the available three points.
Speaking after the match, Stormers coach, Sunday Oluso Jr., said his team lost the match due to unfavourable officiating.
“I do not like to complain about officiating, but today’s officiating was something else and I do not understand the referee’s actions.
”We scored after a ball rebounded from a free-kick, but the referee ruled the goal offside,” he said.
The coach, however, said apart from that matter of officiating the game was entertaining.
He said his team would move on from the game to improve their position in the competition.
“The players know that we cannot allow this result to weigh us down as we have many matches to make up for this loss.
“The league is just starting and this is just a match day four fixture. I believe that we are going to finish well at the end,” Oluso Jr. said.
The Giant Brillars’ coach, Suleiman Afeez, described the game as an intense one that could have gone either way. “But we were the lucky team.”
Afeez said he was not surprised at the goal scored by Offe because the players practised such a move during their last training before the match.
He, however, described the match’s officiating as good, while saying there are lots of improvement in the league.
“I believe that with this, the league will produce better players,” the coach said.
