Buhari jets out again as fuel scarcity bites harder
Amid lingering fuel scarcity that has disrupted economic and commercial activities in the country, President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday departed Abuja for a routine medical check-up in London.
The president’s spokesman, Femi Adesina, disclosed this on his official Facebook page on Sunday, posting photo of Mr Buhari boarding a plane.
“President Buhari departs for medical check-up in UK March 6, 2022,” Mr Adesina said.
Since he assumed office in 2015, Mr Buhari has spent over 200 days in London, treating undisclosed ailments.
His latest shuttle comes as Nigerians are lamenting severe fuel scarcity escalated by the importation of adulterated fuel into the country over four weeks ago. President Buhari doubles as the nation’s petroleum minister.
Mr Adesina, has, however, dismissed the severity of the fuel scarcity chaos, claiming “there were cases of bad fuel before in this country. We slept for days, weeks on end at petrol stations, queuing for fuel.”
The president”s image maker said regardless of hardships occasioned by fuel scarcity, poor electricity supply, lingering insecurity and Nigerians stranded in Ukraine, heavens will not fall.
