Three teenagers in court for stealing air conditioners

They allegedly broke into a company to steal two air conditioners worth N120,000.

Three teenagers were on Monday brought before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly entering a company to steal two air conditioners worth N120,000.

The defendants, Mabade Hakeem, 19; Harris Ayomide, 18; and Seyi Dele, 21, were arraigned on a three-count charge of conspiracy and felony to wit stealing.

They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

According to the prosecutor, Adegeshin Famuyiwa, the defendants committed the offences on February 22, at about 1:00 a.m., behind Zumuratul Secondary School, Igbogbo area of Ikorodu.

Mr Famuyiwa alleged that the defendants conspired among themselves to enter a water company belonging to Yisuf Taibat in contravention of Sections 411, 308 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Section 411 stipulates three years jail term for conspiracy and section 308 provides for three years’ imprisonment for intent to commit a felony while section 287 also stipulates three years jail term for stealing.

The Magistrate, O. A. Ogbe, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N50,000 each, with one surety each in like sum.

The magistrate adjourned the case until March 17 for mention.
