Super Falcons’ Asisat Oshoala pens new deal with Barcelona

Super Falcons forward Asisat Oshoala has signed a new two-year extension on her contract at Barcelona Femeni to extend her stay at the club until the summer of 2024.
The 27-year-old striker is the club’s current top scorer in the Spanish Primera division, having scored 19 goals from just 16 matches this season.
Barcelona has been looking to seal a new deal with the former Arsenal Ladies and Liverpool Ladies striker, having already extended contracts for Mapi Leon and Marta Torrejon in the past week.
“I am just happy to be in the best team in the world,” Oshoala told Barcelona’s official club website after signing the new deal. “It’s not just about their football, you look off the pitch, and it’s about how they treat footballers to help keep improving.
“I am a striker, and I want to keep scoring more goals. I love it. The goal is to keep growing and to be happy.”
Oshoala joined Barcelona in January 2019, initially on a short-term loan deal, before signing for the club permanently in the summer of the same year.
Since she made her debut, the former Rivers Angels star has scored 80 goals in 101 games to become the club’s sixth all-time goalscorer in history and help the club to an unprecedented treble in the 2020/2021 season.
