Governor Ayade’s aide brutalises female job seeker for ‘rejecting sexual advances’

An activist narrates how Aboh Akongfe allegedly repeatedly molested the young woman, while rejecting her pleas to return to her parents in Lagos.

Sexual rights activist Solomon Valentine has called out Aboh Solomon Akongfe, a special assistant on aviation to Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State, for allegedly battering a yet-to-be-identified lady said to have declined his sexual overtures.

Mr. Valentine, in a series of tweets on Wednesday, revealed that Governor Ayade’s aide had convinced the unsuspecting female job seeker to travel to the state capital Calabar from Lagos, under the guise of recommending her for employment in the proposed state carrier, Cali Air.

The aviation official Mr. Akongfe, who sheltered his guest, was said to have demanded sexual gratification as a prerequisite for delivering on his promise.

Having strongly declined his sexual advances, the young female was reportedly pummelled by the governor’s aide in an ensuing struggle between the duo.

The activist further narrated that Mr. Akongfe repeatedly molested the young woman, while rejecting her pleas to return to her parents in Lagos.

Peoples Gazette could not immediately ascertain the exact time of the incident. The woman’s name was not immediately known.

When contacted, a spokesman for the Cross River State governor Christian Ita, told the Gazette that he was unaware of the development.

“The incident is coming to me as strange,” Mr. Ita said Thursday morning.
“We have a lot of appointees, so I’ll need to verify if such a person (Mr. Akongfe) is an appointee, and then find out what happened.”

More than 1,000 aides have been appointed this year by Mr. Ayade, the Gazette learnt.
