The Iyaganku Magistrate’s Court in Ibadan ordered three men be remanded in a correctional centre for setting 11 houses ablaze.

The police charged Isa Omotayo, 25; Isau Adebayo, 45 and Isah Usman, 30, with conspiracy, attempt to murder, murder and arson.

Magistrate I. O Osho, however, did not take the plea of the three men for want in jurisdiction.

Mr Osho directed the police to return the case file to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.

She adjourned the case until June 1, for mention.

Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Insp Foluke Adedosu, told the court that the men committed the offence on April 23, 2021, at about 4:00 p.m., in Olamoyegun village, Egbeda, Ibadan.

The police said the men and others at large burnt the houses belonging to Yinusa Adamu and also caused the death of a housewife, Fatimo Mutairu, 29.

Ms Adedosu also alleged that the accused attempted to murder a couple.

She said the offence contravened sections 324, 319, 320, 516 and 43 of the Criminal laws of Oyo State, 2000.
