British Army donates helmets to Ukraine

The British Army will be donating 84,000 helmets to Ukraine as the European country continues to defend itself against Russia’s attacks.
The 84,000 helmets have been sorted by members of the 2nd Battalion of The Royal Anglian Regiment at MOD Donnington in Shropshire and will be transported to Poland on Friday for distribution to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The British soldiers have been processing up to 12,000 helmets a day as part of the Hats off to Ukraine initiative.
British Army identifying badges have been stripped off by the soldiers and the helmets are packed into giant cardboard boxes.
The United Kingdom has been at the forefront of donations to the warring country, donating over five million items of medical supplies to help Ukraine handle the medical emergencies raised by the Russian invasion.
The British government also provided £400 million in humanitarian and economic aid to Ukraine and neighbouring countries since the Russian invasion started, along with defensive anti-tank and anti-aircraft weaponry.
“The invasion has created a medical emergency and the UK has acted swiftly to give our Ukrainian friends the medical support they need which has helped save tens of thousands of lives,” Health and Social Care Secretary, Sajid Javid, said on Thursday. “The UK will continue to stand with the remarkable people of Ukraine in the face of Russia’s horrendous invasion.”
At the time of filing this report, 22,100 visas have been granted to fleeing refugees through the Ukraine Family Scheme. The Homes for Ukraine scheme started on March 14 has seen over 150,000 people showing interest in being sponsors.
