Ekiti 2022: Defend your votes against riggers, Oni tells supporters

Segun Oni, a former Governor of Ekiti and Social Democratic Party candidate in the June 18 governorship poll in the state, has advised his supporters to defend their votes against riggers.
“We are sure of victory, but they are planning rigging and I know that Ekiti people will prevent their rigging because the power of the people is mightier than any power.
“Act as true soldiers of democracy and defend your votes and your state,” he said, adding that “Whoever terrorises you, report him to the leadership and we will deal with such a person using the instrument of law.”
Mr Oni gave the advice on Monday during his visit to Ido-Odi, Moba and Ilejemeje Local Government Areas of Ekiti, where he was as part of his consultation with party members ahead of the poll.
The SDP candidate, who asked the electorate to come out en masse during the election, urged them to vote wisely and prevent poll riggers from subverting their will.
He appealed to the people to act as true soldiers of democracy and rescue themselves from bad governance that had taken over the land after his exit in 2010.
Mr Oni urged SDP supporters not to succumb to intimidations from the ruling All Progressives Congress and the opposition People’s Democratic Party.
The former governor, who described the two dominant parties as “spent forces“ in Ekiti, said the outcome of the coming election would teach the APC and PDP a lesson.
