EFCC, Unilorin partner against corruption

The EFCC has indicated its readiness to collaborate with the University of Ilorin towards reducing financial crimes in the country.
Oseni Kazeem, EFCC chief in Kwara State, received a team from Unilorin, led by vice-chancellor Sulyman Abdulkareem, to discuss anti-corruption measures on Monday.
Mr. Kazeem assured Mr. Abdulkareem and his team that the agency would continue to ensure proper profiling of suspects, saying that this would be of great help to academics conducting research in related fields.
He advised the university management to enlighten its campus community on the evils of financial crimes. School clubs should promote financial transparency and warn students against financial crimes, the official said.
Mr. Abdulkareem said that the visit was in line with Unilorin’s policy of working with all the federal security agencies in the state.
Mr. Abdulkareem said the anti-graft office should be wary of young persons who falsely claim to be students of Unilorin, especially if they are caught engaging in fraudulent activities.
He said the school would identify and provide details of any student of the institution within minutes if required to do so in order to protect its name.
The EFCC was established in 2003 to rid Nigeria of economic and financial crimes and to effectively coordinate the domestic efforts of the global fight against money laundering and terrorist financing.
