Editor’s Note: We have deleted the content of this page after learning that the presidency did not issue the statement we published.

Those behind the false information had cloned official communication channels to distribute it. It was a rendition of a 2019 statement from the presidency.

We sincerely apologise to our readers.

We have recently deactivated our website's comment provider in favour of other channels of distribution and commentary. We encourage you to join the conversation on our stories via our Facebook, Twitter and other social media pages.
