FCT deserves Mayor for effective leadership: Tambuwal

Governor of Sokoto state and presidential hopeful Aminu Tambuwal has said that the Federal Capital Territory like other major cities in the world should have a Mayor.
He made this comment yesterday during his presidential consultative meeting with delegates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja.
“Because of the special nature of FCT, there should be a mayor in the FCT. In major cities in the world, London, California, they have mayors.
“I am not insisting that FCT should be a state but you appoint ministers, sometimes two from a state, what stops you from appointing a zonal minister from the FCT because the FCT is part of North-Central zone. So if you are appointing an FCT person to represent the zone, what is wrong with that?” he said.
Mr Tambuwal also urged the delegates to work with him on his campaign boasting of understanding ‘what the issues are.’
“I understand what the issues are, so what is important is for you to work with us on this campaign train. this is a project to beat in the PDP,” he added.
PDP chairman for the Federal Capital Territory Sunday Dogo Zakka in response assured Mr Tambuwal of FCT’s support while referencing his contributions to the party.
“People of FCT are solidly behind you, we will not disappoint you,” he said.
