Seven killed as Amotekun, herdsmen clash in Oyo

Western Nigeria Security Network code named Amotekun has reportedly been involved in a clash with suspected herdsmen in Aiyete, Ibarapa North, Oyo State, Inside Oyo reported on Saturday.
The outlet could not immediately ascertain the cause of the conflict, which broke out on Saturday morning. But it cited witnesses as saying that about seven people were killed while several others were injured.
Several houses have also been reportedly razed, Inside Oyo said.Â
Commander of the Amotekun corps in Oyo state, Olayinka Olanrewaju (a retired colonel) has reportedly moved to the scene of the incident while the police public relations officer says efforts are being made to evaluate and contain the conflict. Â
Herders’ activities around Oyo have recently become increasingly violent, as locals push back against encroachment on their lands.
