Another bloody clash between suspected rival cult groups at Ganho compound in Badagry, Lagos, has resulted in the death of 26-year-old Yusuf Tijani.

Sources said Mr Tijani, identified as a member of Eiye confraternity, was shot dead by a group of young men numbering six and between the ages of 20 and 25 years from rivalry Aiye confraternity.

The incident occurred around 6:00 p.m. on May 12, and according to the source, the group chased Mr Tijani to a compound in Ganho, Badagry, shot him thrice and walked away.

“The police from the Divisional Police Station, Badagry, promptly showed up when contacted but no one (suspect) was found.

“The development has created fear among the area residents,” the source said. “This is viewed as a reprisal attack on Eiye confraternity members by Aiye group.”

He added, “A similar reported attack at Agbovipe on May 11 happened to member Aiye Confraternity at the hours.”

The source said that the victim’s corpse was removed and deposited at Badagry General Hospital mortuary while the investigation continued.

When contacted, Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos Police Command, said the command was aware of the incident.

He assured the town residents that the police would do everything within the law to arrest the alleged cultists and punish anyone accordingly.

On March 27, a bloody clash between suspected rival cult groups at Seme border had resulted in the death of a 19-year-old boy, Lateef Agboola.
