Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti has admitted spending more time in Abuja than his state but says the people should not bother about his long absence if it is not affecting his performance.

Mr Fayemi, aspiring to be APC presidential candidate, stated this in an interview with Channels TV on Tuesday.

Asked if criticisms about his governing Ekiti from Abuja worry him, the Ekiti governor insisted that his spending more time in Abuja than in Ekiti should not be a source of concern for anyone.

“I do. Certainly, I spend more time in this second term in office than I did during my first term in office,” Mr Fayemi asserted. “But you know that shouldn’t border anyone – beyond perception level border. It is whether it is telling on my performance as governor that should be (a) worry.”

Mr Fayemi further said, “I will like to think that that has not really affected my performance.”
