Abdulkadir Gaya emerges NASPPAM president

Abdulkadir Gaya has emerged as the new president of the National Association of Sorghum Producers, Processors, and Marketers of Nigeria.
Mr Gaya, at the swearing-in ceremony in Abuja, urged the federal government to partner with NASPPAM to boost sorghum production. He said the partnership will address poverty in the country.
Mr Gaya also stressed the need to develop agriculture from the grassroots to increase production.
“I urge the government to form synergy with this commodity association because we have a robust relationship with farmers at the grassroots. Partnering with this association will make the government to reach the real farmers,
“This would also boost food security and reduce poverty in the country,” he said.
He further said NASPPAM will restructure and reposition the organisation to benefit peasant stakeholders in the sorghum value chain.
Mr Gaya also promised to conduct an election to help bring competent individuals with expertise in sorghum production and processing on board.
Also speaking, the chairman of the board of trustees, Sadiq Daware, said the association would be a strong pillar in food production with adequate support.
He urged the federal government to include NASPPAM in the livestock policy to enhance the success of agricultural projects and programmes.
