APC urges decency in party campaigns ahead of Ondo guber poll

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has called on other political parties to approach their campaigns with maturity ahead of the state’s November 16 governorship election.
The state publicity secretary of APC, Alex Kalejaiye, made the call in a statement on Sunday in Akure.
He said the call reflected APC candidate Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s belief in the importance of promoting peaceful campaigning for the benefit of the state.
Mr Kalejaiye stated that the ruling party was worried about the prevalence of falsehoods and the recent lack of decency of some political parties.
“The rhetorics and behaviour of certain party leaders clearly indicate a troubling level of desperation. Such conduct is detrimental to peace and development.
“We must not sacrifice facts, discipline, and respect for our citizens’ sensibilities for political gain,” said Mr Kalejaiye.
He described Mr Aiyedatiwa as “a model for others” who embodies inclusiveness and unity and prioritises the state’s interests over personal ambitions.
“He is actively campaigning, visiting wards and local government areas with dignity. This sets a standard for all participants in the electoral process.
“We hope that voters will carefully assess all candidates and place their trust in reliable and dependable leadership,” he stated.
Mr Kalejaiye said Mr Aiyedatiwa had illustrated that the government should prioritise the welfare and security of people, stimulate the local economy, and develop essential infrastructure.
He assured the people that an APC-led government under Mr Aiyedatiwa would go above and beyond to earn and justify the people’s trust if elected on November 16.
