Suspected bandits have abducted the younger brother of a Kaduna lawmaker and killed three officials of the Kaduna State Vigilance Service (KADVS) in the Kubau Local Government area of the State.

The KADVS Public Relations Officer, Yunusa Ibrahim, stated this in a statement on Tuesday, saying the abduction occurred few hours after three were killed along the Zaria-Pambegua axis.

He identified the abducted victim as Sanusi, younger brother of Shehu Pambegua, member representing Kubau Constituency in the Kaduna State House of Assembly, who was taken from his residence.

Mr Ibrahim said the abduction occurred at about 10:00 p.m. on Monday when the suspected bandits, who reportedly arrived in a Sharon vehicle, invaded the residence and whisked Mr Sanusi away.

He identified the slain officials as Dallami Dantani, Second-in-Command of KADVS in the Kubau Local Government Area, Abdullahi Hamisu and Zakariyya Musa, who died during the attack.

According to him, the officials were conducting routine security checks when they attempted to stop a red Volkswagen Golf Salon, but the driver refused, prompting them to pursue the vehicle.

Mr Ibrahim said the officials pursued the vehicle in their patrol van to ascertain the occupants’ identities and purpose of movement, but the suspects opened fire during the chase.

He said the suspects killed Dantani during the pursuit before turning back towards the KADVS office, where they fatally shot Hamisu and Musa before fleeing towards Zaria.

Reacting, the Kaduna State Commander of KADVS, CP Ali Audu (retd), condoled with the families of the deceased, describing their deaths as a painful loss to the service.

Mr Audu commended the officials for their courage and dedication to duty, assuring their families that their sacrifices would not be forgotten and promising continued support during the difficult period.

He said the agency had heightened surveillance across Pambegua and surrounding communities, adding that efforts were ongoing to locate the abducted victim and apprehend those responsible for the attacks.

Mr Audu urged KADVS personnel to remain vigilant and strengthen collaboration with other security agencies to protect lives and property across Kaduna State, particularly in vulnerable communities.
