Bartender docked for allegedly stealing employer’s N275,800

A 30-year-old bartender, Richmond Johnson was on Thursday docked in a Dei-Dei Grade I Area Court Abuja, for allegedly cheating his employer.
The police charged Mr Johnson who lives in Gwarinpa Abuja with criminal breach of trust and cheating.
The Prosecution Counsel, Mr Chinedu Ogade, told the court that the complainant, Okoye Wisdom of the same address reported the matter on May 28 at Galadima Police Station.
Mr Ogada said the defendant was employed as a bartender at Chuclass Apartment Hotel.
He told the court that the defendant sold drinks worth N 275,800 and dishonestly converted the money to his personal use.
The prosecutor added that during police investigation, the defendant made a confessional statement and all efforts made to recover the money from him failed.
Mr Ogada further told the court that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code.
The judge, Malam Saminu Suleiman, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
Mr Suleiman adjourned until June 27 for hearing.
