Wizkid wins first-ever Grammy for ‘Brown Skin Girl’
Wizkid has won the first-ever Grammy for his role in ‘Brown Skin Girl’, a collaboration with Beyonce.
The victory was announced on Sunday evening (Nigerian time) at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards premiere.
The song was made for Beyonce’s album, Lion King, in 2019. Wizkid will get the iconic Gramophone for his contribution to the hit track.
It also marked the first Grammy Award for Beyoncé’s daughter and the song’s featured artist, Blue Ivy. Jenn Nkiru co-directed the video with Beyonce, with SAINt JHN and WizKid featuring.
Beyoncé is up for eight other awards at tonight’s Grammys: Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Best R&B Performance, and Best R&B Song for “BLACK PARADE,” plus Record of the Year for “Savage” (with Megan Thee Stallion, and Best Music Film (for Black Is King).
Another Nigerian star Burna Boy is also looking forward to a great night having bagged another nomination in the world music category that has yet to be announced.
