Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has assured members of the National Youth Service Corps that his administration is committed to their safety and welfare throughout their service year.
Mr Oborevwori gave the assurance on Tuesday at the Closing Ceremony of the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream 1 Orientation Course held at the NYSC Orientation Camp, Issele-Uku.
The governo pledged to continue supporting the NYSC through appropriate interventions and resources. He urged corps members to seize every opportunity to learn, innovate and contribute meaningfully to society.
According to Mr Oborevwori, as the orientation exercise concludes, they should remember that beyond the skills acquired, they have been imbued with enduring values.
“Hold fast to these lessons and allow them to guide your actions as you serve in your respective communities,” he said.
Mr Oborevwori urged corps members to promote unity, peace and development in Delta and Nigeria.
John Kwaghe, the NYSC coordinator in Delta, commended the corps members for their discipline, resilience, and maturity displayed throughout the orientation exercise.
“Your conduct has reflected the finest ideals of the NYSC Scheme. Your positive attitude, cooperation with camp officials, and commitment to learning have been a source of pride to us all.
“It is a clear indication of your readiness to serve our nation with integrity and loyalty,” he said.
Mr Kwaghe urged corps members to build on the foundations laid during post-camp training and take bold, deliberate steps toward entrepreneurship, regardless of how modest the beginning might seem.
“We are deeply encouraged by His Excellency’s fatherly disposition and his steadfast commitment to transforming the camp into a model camp.
“We remain resolute in our support for the laudable policies and programmes of the state government at all times,” he added.
Mr Kwaghe, however, appealed to the governor for assistance in equipping the newly constructed 720-bed capacity male hostel with double bunk beds and mattresses.
