President Bola Tinubu has urged Muslims to emulate the virtues and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) as they celebrate this year’s Eid el-Maulud.

The president urged the faithful to use the occasion for introspection, prayer and reflection on the Prophet’s exceptional virtues, including devotion, perseverance, tolerance, humility and selflessness.

Mr Tinubu’s message is contained in a statement by presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, on Tuesday in Abuja.

“The Muslim faithful should make deliberate effort to adhere to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad.

“There are great lessons of devotion, perseverance, tolerance, humility and selflessness that we can all learn from the life of the Prophet,” he said.

The president urged religious leaders to use the occasion to pray for Nigeria and encourage their followers to translate the prophet’s teachings into greater commitment to the country.

He also called on Muslims celebrating Eid el-Maulud to extend a hand of fellowship to the needy and vulnerable in the spirit of the season.

Mr Tinubu urged Nigerians to pray for an end to the insecurity and other challenges confronting parts of the country.

He congratulated Muslims across Nigeria on the celebration and wished them a peaceful and spiritually rewarding Eid el-Maulud.
