Elon Musk unveils new Tesla Roadster with flight function

Billionaire Elon Musk’s Tesla has unveiled its next-generation Roadster, featuring flight capabilities, nearly nine years after the businessman first announced the concept in 2017.
The Roadster was revealed at a SpaceX test site in Texas on Thursday, where it was shown travelling up a huge curved ramp until it was upside down, then flew off the ramp, flipped, and landed safely on the ground.
The car landed unscathed thanks to SpaceX thrusters attached to it, which can also accelerate it from zero to 96.56 kilometres per hour in less than a second.
“You’re going to see some crazy stuff tonight. You’re going to see the results of what happens when you have a collaboration with the world’s best car company and the world’s best rocket company,” Mr Musk said.
Mr Musk said the two-seater would enter production in 2028. The prototype unveiled on Thursday featured a lightweight design, steer-by-wire technology, a steering yoke, and several other innovations developed by SpaceX.
While Tesla did not immediately announce the Roadster’s price, the company reopened reservations for the car in recent weeks, accepting $50,000 deposits from prospective buyers in the U.S., Canada, and China.
