Father’s Day: Lagos DSVA praises fathers as safe home builders

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) on Sunday, congratulated fathers and father figures for the vital role they play in nurturing and building safe and violence-free homes.
The agency made this known in a Father’s Day message shared on its X handle, @Lagosdsva, on Sunday.
According to the DSVA, fathers play powerful roles not only in providing for their families, but also in shaping values, building trust and creating environments where one feels seen, safe and protected.
It noted that fathers were instrumental in raising children free from violence and abuse, stressing that safe homes begin with adults who choose compassion, guidance and accountability.
According to the agency, the positive influence of fathers contributes significantly to the emotional wellbeing and development of children, while fostering healthier families and communities.
“Fathers play powerful roles not only in providing, but in shaping values, building trust, and creating homes where everyone feels seen, safe, and protected,” it stated.
The agency also recognised the importance of fathers in promoting respect, responsibility and non-violent values within the family.
The organisation consequently, commended fathers and father figures who remained intentional about their responsibilities and served as positive examples to the younger generation.
“To all fathers and father figures who show up with intention, thank you. Your presence matters, your example matters, and the role you play in shaping a better future cannot be overstated,” it said.
The DSVA urged fathers to continue fostering homes built on love, safety and mutual respect.
