FIFA Ranking: Egypt, Morocco, South Africa move up while Nigeria drop two places

Egypt, Morocco and South Africa all made progress while the Super Eagles of Nigeria dropped from 34th position to 36th in the latest FIFA ranking.
In a statement on Thursday, FIFA said its latest ranking was influenced by the performances of countries in the 160 internationals played in October.
“October 2021 was a busy month in international football, with qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™, friendlies, and the final rounds of the UEFA Nations League all on the agenda.
“A total of 160 fixtures were played, the impact of which can be seen on the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking,” FIFA said.
Senegal ranked 20th on the log, maintaining their first position in Africa, followed by Tunisia with 27th on the global ranking log.
Though Nigeria dropped from 34th to 36th position on the log as a result of home defeats suffered in a World Cup qualifying match against the Central African Republic, Nigeria retained their third position in Africa.
“Morocco (29th, +4), Russia (33rd, +4), Egypt (44th, +4), Saudi Arabia (49th, +7) and South Africa (66th, +7) all made strides on the back of two wins from two this month in Qatar 2022 qualifying,” FIFA said.
Belgium and Brazil remain first and second on the log, while France displaced England from third position.
Italy now rank fourth, while England and Argentina are fifth and sixth on the table.
