Ibadan chief Lekan Alabi dies at 76
The Abese Olubadan, Lekan Alabi, is dead.
He was 76.
Mr Alabi’s death was announced in a statement by Adeola Oloko, the media aide to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, in Ibadan, the Oyo State, on Saturday.
“The veteran journalist and multiple press secretary to former Oyo State governors, Lekan Alabi, is dead,” the statement said.
The statement noted that the prominent Ibadan chief died on Saturday in Lagos, and would be buried on Sunday in accordance with Islamic rites.
Mr Alabi, who was a press secretary to four governors of the old Oyo State from 1983 to 1989, held forth as the first cultural ambassador of the National Museum in Ile- Ife, Osun State.
In his distinguished career spanning decades, Mr Alabi made significant contributions to journalism, public communication, and strategic media management.
He also earned the reputation of being a vibrant voice in public affairs and institutional media practice.
